During tragedies like the flood in Texas, a reliable network for communication is vital in order to be able to carry out clear communication to help with the distressing situation. Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile were quick to respond and were prompt in extending their relief efforts to the affected communities. There was solidarity expressed with the affected communities by all three big players, who emphasized the importance of keeping people connected and the role it is playing in the recovery operations.
Verizon emphasized that despite the extensive damage caused in the flood-hit areas, the network continues to be functional and is even actively monitoring progress with emergency management agencies to cater to any communication needs during this time. It has even provided a low-Earth orbit satellite device to the Texas Department of Public Safety to help with the recovery operations with its drone-based search.
T-Mobile on the other hand, is going one step ahead by providing ground assistance in Kerrville which is the area severely flooded through its Community Support team. The company is extending Wi-Fi support, charging stations and even essential emergency supplies at a specified recovery center.
