Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodhunt Servers Will Burn Up In The Sun In April 2026

Just as Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 finally arrives on the scene after years of development, another Vampire: The Masquerade game disappears for good. Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodhunt, the free-to-play battle royale that initially launched in its 1.0 state on April 27, 2022 (after an early access release on September 7, 2021), is shutting down its servers on April 28, 2026, almost exactly four years since its 1.0 arrival.

Developer Sharkmob confirmed the shutdown in a statement on Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodhunt's official website, citing the dwindling player population as "no longer sustainable" to keep the game running.

It's an unfortunate shutdown in the way that it's always upsetting to see always-online games like this disappear entirely when their servers get shut down, but it can hardly be called a surprise. In 2023, barely a year after its launch, Sharkmob confirmed it would cease development on Bloodhunt, with no new content updates to come while the servers remained live.

A quick look at concurrent player charts on SteamDB also shows that the last time Bloodhunt consistently had over 1K players was in 2023, and since then, it only spiked above that number twice in 2024. Since that last spike in October 2024, player counts have stayed at only a few hundred at a time. Also, it's worth pointing out that while these are only Steam numbers, and Bloodhunt was also available on PS5, even hitting above 1K players is not enough to keep a multiplayer game going.

"During these past 4 years, we have been thrilled to see your passion and dedication to Bloodhunt," Sharkmob writes. "Your feedback, creativity, and enthusiasm for our game has meant the world to us. However, despite you, our amazing community, the current player population has reached a level where keeping the servers running is no longer sustainable. This has led us to make the difficult decision to take Bloodhunt offline."

"The sun is now going to rise over Prague. We will be taking down the Bloodhunt servers on the 28th of April 2026, after which the game will no longer be available."

Purchasing in-game tokens has been made unavailable as of today, though players who are still enjoying Bloodhunt are free to spend those tokens until the game's shutdown next year. Like any in-game currency, they'll become entirely useless (even more so than they already are, that is) once the servers are shut down. All player and gameplay data will also be deleted once the servers are gone.

"We encourage everyone to enjoy the time that remains in Prague and to keep playing, making the most of these final months together," writes Sharkmob. "Thank you for being with us on this journey. We hope your memories from the rooftops and back alleys of Prague will stay with you as they have with us."
