New Turok: Origins Gameplay Trailer Shows Off More Intense Combat but Still Lacks a Release Date

Two characters in Turok Origins confront a large dinosaur-like creature in a dimly lit, cavernous setting.

Turok: Origins marks the return of the classic dino-shooting franchise, though this time it arrives as a co-op experience with a mixture of third-person and first-person action. As well as a major sci-fi spin, or at least, a bigger sci-fi spin than what was already seen in previous Turok games. Now, after its initial reveal back at The Game Awards 2024, its latest gameplay trailer shows off more of the intense combat and gameplay players can expect. But we still don't have a release date.

The trailer is a mix of cinematics and gameplay, so it's not the greatest look at what the game will actually play like, but it does provide at least some understanding of what we can expect when we jump into it ourselves.

What's clear is that there's still a large sense of scale to the gameplay and plenty of key movement elements, with dashes, grapple hooks, and plenty of verticality to the combat with what appears to be several flying creatures you'll have to take down.

Months after Turok: Origins was first announced, Wccftech's Alessio Palumbo got to have a closer look at the game during Gamescom 2025, where he started to learn a bit more about what Saber Interactive has been building with this game, and try it out for himself.

What he played then wasn't too engrossing, as he called it "pretty standard shooter fare," though the demo's concluding boss fight and the ability to swap between first and third-person, which is a small element that can drastically change your playing experience.

We haven't had the chance to go hands-on with Turok: Origins since, but if we had to choose, we'd rather see a release date get announced over just another chance to try the game out for a bit. Early lackluster impressions aside, there are plenty of ways in which Turok: Origins could surprise those keen to play it. Hopefully, whenever it does arrive, it's a strong return for the iconic series.
