Trump Mobile's ambitions of launching the T1 smartphone, which is likely a re-skinned version of the China-made REVVL 7 Pro 5G, are facing unexpected setbacks, as evidenced by the apparent delays in its official launch cadence.
Trump Mobile had expected to launch the T1 smartphone by the end of 2025 after delaying its debut from August 2025
For the benefit of those who might not be aware, Trump Mobile is a Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO) that licenses the Trump name and leverages the existing infrastructure of major carriers to offer cellular services.
Back in June 2025, Trump Mobile announced its $499 "made-in-America" T1 smartphone along with the so-called 47 plan, available for $47.45 per month, which offered:
- Access to 5G cellular internet
- Unlimited calls, texts, and data
- Device protection
- 24/7 roadside protection via Drive America
- Telehealth services
- Free international calling to over 100 countries, including US military bases.
However, the T1 smartphone was immediately panned by supply chain experts, who declared at the time that manufacturing an entirely made-in-America consumer device was nearly impossible given the expansive role of Asia-based supply chains in the smartphone sphere.
For context, do note that as per IDC estimates, just around 5 percent of the components that go into Apple's iPhones are currently manufactured in the United States. Under pressure, Trump Mobile changed its branding from "built in the United States" to "brought to life in the United States."
Subsequent analysis then revealed that Trump Mobile's T1 smartphone was just a re-skinned version of the China-made T-Mobile REVVL 7 Pro 5G, which launched at around $250. This suggests that Trump Mobile stands to earn a hefty margin on the sale of the smartphone even after factoring in related costs.
Coming to the topic at hand, Trump Mobile initially intended to launch the T1 smartphone in August 2025 but then delayed those plans to the end of 2025, all the while continuing to accept $100 deposits for pre-orders.
And now, the T1 has not launched even though 2025 has ended. According to the Financial Times, the company is blaming the US government shutdown in H2 2025 for complicating the T1's launch cadence. It remains uncertain as to when the smartphone will actually launch.
In the interim, Trump Mobile continues to sell used iPhones and Samsung smartphones at discounted prices.
