The Xiaomi 14 Ultra Goes Global, Taking The Fight To Apple And Samsung

Just three days after its domestic launch, the Xiaomi 14 Ultra is finally available in the global market. With its premium price and top-shelf specifications, it is taking the fight to the likes of Apple and Samsung, and rightfully so, given everything that the phone brings to the table.

Despite costing just as much as the Galaxy S24 Ultra, the Xiaomi 14 Ultra delivers more in terms of camera and battery

To make sure that the phone is worthy of its Ultra moniker, the company is offering the Xiaomi 14 Ultra in just a single memory and storage configuration. The phone will launch with Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, powering the device with 16 gigabytes of RAM and 512 gigabytes of UFS 4.0 storage. You are not getting other storage or memory options with the phone at all.

On the front, you find a 6.73-inch QHD+ OLED panel with LTPO technology. It goes as low as 1Hz and as high as 120Hz, depending on the content you are viewing. It has HDR10+ support, Dolby Vision, 1,920Hz PWM dimming, and a max brightness of 3,000 nits. Xiaomi is using ceramic glass protection on the front to save the device from scratches, but if you know anything about how glass works, I would suggest a screen protector, which is something you should invest in.

Under the hood, the Xiaomi 14 Ultra brings a 5,300 mAh battery with 90W wired and 80W wireless charging support. A 10W reverse wireless charging is also supported.

Moving to the back of the phone, that is where the star of the show is. The Xiaomi 14 Ultra comes with a 50-megapixel Sony LYT-900 sensor with f/1.63-f/4.0 aperture, Hyper OIS,  and a Leica Summilux lens. You are also getting a 50-megapixel ultra-wide camera with autofocus that would allow macro shots, as well. There are two periscope cameras on the back, one 50-megapixel unit with 3.2x optical zoom and the other 50-megapixel unit with 5x optical zoom. For selfies, you get a 32-megapixel camera on the front.

Are you interested in the Xiaomi 14 Ultra? The phone is going to be available in either black or white and will set you back £1,299. It is an expensive device, but if you are looking for something that competes with the likes of Samsung and Apple, then I think the price is more than justified. Especially when you consider the fact that Xiaomi's offering has better camera hardware, maybe even the best in the class.
