This year is shaping up to be really good for foldable phones, as we have had a variety of them to look through. Earlier this year, we had the chance to look at the Oppo Find N2 Flip, and in eight days, Google is officially unveiling the Pixel Fold, and Motorola is also bringing its own offering. All of this means more competition than before for Samsung, especially from Google, and perhaps this competition is the reason why the company might end up releasing the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and the Galaxy Z Flip 5 earlier this year.

Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 releasing in July makes a lot of sense thanks to the competition Samsung is facing

This is not the first time we have heard that Samsung could release the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and the Galaxy Z Flip 5 earlier this year. The rumor is that the company has ramped up the production of parts for both devices, and considering how both devices showed up in leaked renders a couple of days ago is proof that the phones could release earlier than before.

Samsung usually releases foldable devices between August and September. That has been the case for some time, but the rumors that we are hearing point to July being the release date for the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and the Galaxy Z Flip 5 reveal. This makes sense because the Pixel Fold will also be hitting the shelves around the same time, and considering how the Pixel Fold is going to cost $1,799 for its base variant, there is a compelling argument to be made that Samsung wants to rush the market and release something that would compete with the Google Pixel Fold.

Now, Samsung releasing the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and the Galaxy Z Flip 5 could have some people worry over the actual quality of the product. Still, considering how Samsung has been planning this for some time, I don't think there is something that could go wrong. This early release date should be taken as a rumor at the moment. Samsung could end up sticking to the previous schedule, but we never know.

As for the competition with the Pixel Fold, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 wins before it is even launched, all thanks to a more powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset instead of the Tensor G2. Not to mention, this will be Google's first outing with a foldable device, and we never know what the experience ends up being.
