Samsung Wants More People to Buy Foldable Phones and is Working with Corning and Another Company to Source Ultra-Thin Glass

The Galaxy Z Flip 5 has become a favorite and for all the right reasons. The phone has been receiving some praise from everyone, and for all the right reasons. The new foldable brings a number of improvements, including the new cover screen along with some really solid hinge that simply refuses to die. However, the camera on the phone seems to be lagging behind what has become an industry standard.

The Galaxy Z Flip 5 has an average camera for 2023, but you shouldn't worry a lot

Galaxy Z Flip 5 has gone through a series of tests at DXOMark, and based on the results that the company has provided, the camera is something that leaves more to be desired, whereas the display shines bright through the tests. Tests from the source show that the camera on the clamshell foldable is capable of offering good exposure and dynamic range, as well as in areas such as stabilization, autofocus, and white balance.

However, the Galaxy Z Flip 5 appears to have some noise issues in most conditions, especially closer to the edges. Low-light photos also show some artifacts and the digital zoom does not return pleasing photos. Sadly, if you are looking to purchase the new clamshell foldable for the sake of its camera quality, then you might be disappointed as the phone doesn't score well, getting a score of 127, which isn't as good as the Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel 7a, and a couple of other phones are still ahead.

Where the Galaxy Z Flip 5 fails to deliver a promising camera performance, it makes up in the display quality. The phone scored 149 points during extensive lab testing, and it was only bested by two phones - the Pixel Fold and the Honor Magic 5 Pro. This is the main display and not the cover display, as some might think.

Now, it is worth noting that the Flip series was never big on the cameras. However, based on the information we have received, the Galaxy Z Flip 6 could be in line to get some serious camera hardware with a new 50-megapixel sensor. However, that is not to say that the Galaxy Z Flip 5 isn't a good phone. It just doesn't provide the camera experience some users might be looking for.
