Even though it has only been a few months since the Galaxy S23 series came out, we have heard a lot of buzz about the upcoming Galaxy S24 series. There have been some reasonable concerns about the chipset used in Samsung's next foldable, but many users are also concerned about the cameras that Samsung will use. Now, we have heard more buzz about the Galaxy S24 Ultra, particularly having a massively improved camera system.
Latest tips point towards Samsung using the older camera hardware for the Galaxy S24 series
The news about the Galaxy S24 Ultra having a massively improved camera can take one by surprise because the Galaxy S23 Ultra already did offer a significant camera upgrade over its predecessor, and knowing Samsung, the company waits for a couple of generations before making a switch but seems like they are shifting things up.
The Galaxy S24 series / S24 Ultra in particular will get massive camera improvement. This will primarily be achieved through improved software.
Test builds on S23 Ultra are promising so far.

Renowned tipster Yogesh Brar claims that the Galaxy S24 series, especially the Galaxy S24 Ultra in particular, will have a massive camera improvement, most of which will be coming through software improvement. He added that the test builds on Galaxy S23 Ultra are already promising. This means that Samsung could stick to the same ISOCELL HP2 sensor for the Ultra variant but make software improvements to make the pictures look even better.
If that is the case, it means we are not getting a 1-inch sensor even next year. However, based on almost a week-old rumor, we did hear that the Ultra variant will offer a variable aperture on the main camera and variable optical zoom on the telephoto camera, which will essentially remove one camera sensor from the phone. Sadly, even for the base and Galaxy S24 Plus variant, Samsung might be going for the same GN3 sensor, based on another tweet from a renowned tipster.

While this might sound disappointing, we know that the Galaxy S24 series will definitely win the users, especially everyone who did not upgrade from their Galaxy S22 or even the Galaxy S21 devices. Here is hoping that Samsung delivers something truly remarkable with the upcoming devices.
Honestly, I am looking forward to what Samsung has to offer with the Galaxy S24 series, particularly the Ultra variant since that is the phone I will most probably be upgrading to. I hope Samsung finally brings a 1-inch sensor so I have another reason to upgrade.
