Yesterday, independent game developer Fun Dog Studios (composed of industry veterans who worked on such games as Horizon: Zero Dawn, DOOM Eternal, Killzone, Hawken, The Witcher 3, and Mass Effect) shared the debut gameplay trailer for their first game, The Forever Winter.

In this squad-based post-apocalyptic tactical co-op looter-shooter game, players will have to enter a maze of relentless 'PvEvE' conflict where multiple enemy factions fight to achieve their own goals. Squads of up to four players (or AI-controlled squadmates) face off against (or sneak past) hordes of colossal enemies, looting the fallen in a race to secure what's left of Earth's dwindling resources. They'll have to scavenge what they need and then run off to a safe area. Players will build their arsenal over multiple playthroughs, giving them a fighting chance against bigger enemies.

Miles Williams, CEO and Creative Director of Fun Dog Studios, said:

Our work on The Forever Winter started out with one simple truth: war is hell. There’s a time and a place for the power fantasy of being a super soldier, but frankly, it’s been done time and time again. With The Forever Winter, we wanted to redefine victory as survival – ensuring that every battle is hard fought, and every defeat is a lesson learned. You’ll be rewarded for fighting smarter, not harder, and maintaining situational awareness in a world we designed to be as unforgiving as it is unforgettable. While your power will grow, you’ll always be a mouse in a maze, to survive, you’ll have to work together.

Here's the full feature set shared by the studio:

The Forever Winter will launch first on PC, with other platforms being covered later. You can already wishlist the game on Steam, where the developers already posted the game's system requirements. There's no release window yet.
