Apple has just launched the first developer builds for the beta versions of its sprawling hardware ecosystem's monthly software updates
We noted on Sunday that Apple was likely to release the first developer build of the iOS 26.2 beta today. Well, that prediction has now panned out.
As for their contents, the beta 1 builds are limited to developers at the moment. So, it is not yet apparent what is slated to change with Apple's upcoming software update cadence.
Nonetheless, Apple is bringing three major changes to the Podcast app on iOS 26.2:
- Apple will automatically create podcast episode chapters for, facilitating ease of navigation.
- Apple Podcasts will now include the ability to "see and follow mentioned podcasts right from the player and transcript."
- A 'From This Episode' feature will allow users to "quickly access the links shared in a podcast on the episode page."
Additionally, the Apple News app is now slated to get four new sections:
- Sports
- Puzzles
- Politics
- Food
Also, with iOS 26.2 beta 1, Apple is introducing a Liquid Glass slider for customizing the appearance of the clock on the lock screen. The slider will allow you to adjust the opacity of the clock to your liking.
In iOS 26.2, Apple is also now allowing you to create an alarm from within the Reminders app. When a Reminder alarm goes off, it displays a snooze option and a slide to stop option. The snooze option can be replaced with a 'mark as complete" option.
Finally, Apple is bringing the Live Translation feature to the AirPods in the EU with iOS 26.2. The feature now supports the following languages:
- English (U.S.)
- English (U.K.)
- French (France)
- German (Germany)
- Portuguese (Brazil)
- Spanish (Spain)
- Chinese - Simplified (China)
- Chinese - Traditional (China)
- Japanese
- Korean
- Italian
Of course, Apple has also launched the first developer builds for watchOS 26.2, tvOS 26.2, and VisionOS 26.2. Interestingly, the Cupertino giant has not launched the first developer build for macOS Tahoe 26.2 yet, it should arrive in the coming days, though.
