Swords of Legends is a new entry in the Gujian RPG series, that was just announced by developer Aurogon Shanghai during the Gamescom ONL 2025 pre-show.
The action-RPG looks like it's another game that'll feel familiar to Souls fans, as the gameplay shown in the trailer features plenty of grand boss fights and enemy design that continues to ramp up the bar for the kinds of horrors players face in FromSoftware titles and the games that have taken influence from Dark Souls, Sekiro, Bloodborne, and Elden Ring.
That said, the studio is clear to say that Swords of Legends "is not a Soulslike game as the gameplay is designed to ensure players of all skill levels will enjoy combining all the unique combat skills," Aurogon Shanghai writes in an FAQ about the game.
"We are building the game around its own distinct identity," the studio continues. "Instead of focusing purely on punishing encounters, Swords of Legends introduces unique core mechanics that give players more strategic options."
Soulslike or not, it'll be interesting to see what the final version of Swords of Legends plays like when it arrives on PC and consoles sometime in the future, as a release date was not announced alongside the trailer reveal.
