Generative AI can be a lot of fun when used correctly. While I understand that most people often run into issues with artificial intelligence, Spotify has decided to use it in the best possible way. The company has just launched a new tool that leverages AI to make playlists for you. This feature, I believe, will help people who are indecisive about what they want on their playlists and what they don't.
Spotify's latest feature will help you create the best playlist when you are not sure what you want
The company announced the new AI playlists feature for Spotify Premium users, and as the name suggests, this feature is going to let you create playlists using prompts. This is going to be super handy for anyone who is looking to create a playlist without having to go the extra mile. The company even shared some prompts that you can use. For instance, one prompt that the company shared goes like, “relaxing music to tide me over during allergy season” and “a playlist that makes me feel like the main character.” It is more than safe to say that since it is generative AI that we are talking about, the sky is the limit when it comes to how creative your prompts can be.
If you are wondering what type of prompts you can use, Spotify clarifies it by suggesting that your prompts can consist of places, animals, colors, activities, emojis, and movie characters. The point here is that you can create whatever playlist you want using AI as l long as you are good at using prompts, but even if you are not, you can actually end up getting somewhere. After all, the refinement comes from going over your prompts and narrowing them down. However, before you decide to think the other way, you should know that there are measures in place for any offensive prompts, and you might not be allowed to continue.
Although I am excited to see this feature rolling out to more people, Spotify has confirmed that it is currently only for Premium users and is rolling out only in Australia and the UK. Considering how cool this feature sounds, I am sure that it is going to start rolling out to other regions soon, and we will keep an eye out for this.
I believe the AI playlists feature is one of the best uses of generative AI. Sometimes, people need new music, so what better way to discover new music than by using AI? Let us know what you think of this feature in the comments below.
