Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 has been a predictably big hit, but despite that, the game has seen surprisingly little in terms of post-launch and content beyond the usual big-fixing patches. A New Game+ mode was promised to arrive before the end of 2023, but was ultimately pushed back to sometime in 2024. Well, it seems that sometime will be early next month, as Insomniac have announced New Game+, some new Spidey suits, and more is coming in early March.

“Our next update Is coming March 7 Our title update for Marvel's Spider-Man 2 arrives next month and adds highly requested features like New Game+, new suits, and more! Watch our social media for a complete list of features closer to release.”

What exactly this New Game+ will entail remails to be seen, but we ought to get more information soon. One also wonders why this got pushed back around three months – hopefully, it means more cool features for those tackling the game for a second time.

Beyond New Game+, Insomniac hasn’t had much to say about continued Spider-Man 2 support, but the recent Sony leaks indicated that there will be a series of free DLCs released in 2024, rather than any sort of paid season pass. Here’s how I described those in my previous story…

“The first of these [free DLCs], slated for the first 3 months of 2024, is called “Beetle Invasion” and, as the name implies, will focus on the classic B-tier Spidey villain Beetle. You can expect a new open-world mission and boss fight from that update.

The second update comes in spring of 2024 and is called “Extreme Carnage.” I bet you can guess which villain this one focuses on! Again, you can expect a new mission and boss fight.

Finally, during the 2024 holiday season we’ll get “Spider-Verse Anomaly,” which will offer a Spider-Verse-flavored mission, villains (multiple), and some cameos from various Spider-Verse allies. There will also be a visual filter that gives the whole game a Spider-Verse look.”

Of course, take the above with a grain of salt for now. If these DLCs are still happening, at the very least, it seems likely their release dates will be pushed back.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 can be played on PS5. Again, the New Game+ update arrives on March 7.
