Highly Likely
Yesterday, Sony announced a date and time for the next State of Play, which will air on Tuesday, June 2 at 2 PM Pacific Time, 5 PM Eastern Time, and 11 PM CEST. The announcement also included the confirmation that Insomniac's soon-to-be-released game, Marvel's Wolverine, would be prominently featured in the broadcast, providing a closer look at its combat and gameplay details ahead of the planned September 15 debut on PlayStation 5.
Beyond that, it's anyone's guess what Sony will show off. The June State of Play is a big one, as it effectively functions as the replacement for the old Sony E3 conference, heralding the beginning of the not-E3 week, which will continue on Friday, June 5 with Geoff Keighley's yearly Summer Game Fest and Microsoft's Xbox Games Showcase, slated for Sunday, June 7. Traditionally, though, Sony reserves the PlayStation exclusive announcements for its own show.
Moreover, according to reliable insider Nate the Hate, they might show off more exclusives at the State of Play than just Marvel's Wolverine and the highly anticipated God of War spin-off featuring Faye as the protagonist. Nate himself had revealed that info a couple of months ago; then, in April, other reports revealed that the game could also feature Týr, the Norse God of War who was freed by Kratos and Freya in God of War: Ragnarok. Faye and Týr should be accompanied by unusual companions, such as a "gelatinous cube" and a talking sword (said to be Merlin), found across multiple Middle Eastern and Asian mythologies. Needless to say, given that Faye's death triggers the narrative of 2018's God of War game, this game would have to be a prequel.
As for the other PlayStation exclusives that may be shown at the State of Play, such as Naughty Dog's Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, Nate couldn't confirm anything. He did say that overall it should be a "good" event, though fans should keep their expectations grounded.
Anything else would be a massive surprise. Guerrilla Games is working on the co-op game Horizon Hunters Gathering, which has recently started playtesting; Sucker Punch Productions has released Ghost of Yotei (and its multiplayer Legends mode) not long ago; Housemarque has just released Saros; and Bend Studios and Firesprite had projects canceled, making it unlikely they are ready for a reveal at this time. A console exclusive coming from a third-party Japanese or Chinese developer is, however, far from impossible.
