Qualcomm had previously announced that the Snapdragon X Elite was capable enough to play the latest AAA titles, but you needed to have a realistic approach considering the performance you can get out of an integrated graphics processor. With a little tweaking, you can churn out a slightly higher framerate, but that option was previously only available for dedicated desktop and laptop GPUs. Fortunately, with the Adreno Control Panel that was announced by the company, Snapdragon X Elite-powered laptops can be given the same treatment, but there is still a ton of work left to be done.
The Adreno Control Panel also allows users to update the Snapdragon X Elite GPU drivers to maintain peak performance, but once again, realistic expectations need to be maintained
In a separate post, Qualcomm has stated that the Adreno Control Panel is currently in beta, but if users want to get started immediately, they can download it from here. The software works similar to NVIDIA’s Control Panel or AMD’s Adrenalin, giving users the option to configure certain video settings, ranging from texture filtering, anisotropic filtering, framerate capping and more. You can also set up user-specific profiles and initiate them depending on which game you want to play.
While these options can be helpful in specific scenarios, the option that will boost the framerate to acceptable levels is Video Super Resolution, which works similarly to NVIDIA’s DLSS or AMD’s FSR technologies. Apart from this option, the other graphics settings are present in nearly every other game and can be changed accordingly. We have reported that the Snapdragon X Elite’s Adreno GPU can run games like Baldur’s Gate 3 at 30FPS and Control at 40FPS.

Sadly, these are not incredibly impressive results, especially considering that the in-game video settings and resolutions must be reduced to achieve the aforementioned numbers. Regardless, the existence of the Adreno Control Panel suggests that Qualcomm is serious about increasing the adoption of gaming on its Snapdragon X Elite platform, which is why titles like Fortnite will also arrive for it soon. However, regarding raw performance, we have to wait for more successors to arrive before Qualcomm, NVIDIA, and AMD can be in the same conversation.
