A standard Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 followed by the premium Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro are slated to launch later this year, becoming Qualcomm’s first 2nm chipsets to arrive to the market. However, the advanced lithography is rumored to make the top-end SoC ludicrously expensive, but according to the latest leak, there could be six samples for Qualcomm’s partners to choose from, offering a diversified lineup for manufacturers to mix and match their launches and reduce their chipset expenditure.
New leak reveals the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro may also have varying CPU and GPU clock speeds to allow phone manufacturers to pick binned variants at a lower cost
Evidence of the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro’s variants has been posted by Reptalica on X; if you want to skip the list below, you can check out the image instead. One of the biggest differences that we’ve noticed is that Qualcomm’s latest and greatest SoC will arrive with both LPDDR6 and LPDDR5X RAM support. The more premium version is also said to be paired with UFS 5.0 storage, but this configuration will only be reserved for the flagships of flagships next year due to the insanely high cost.

The other samples show support for sub-6GHz and mmWave networks, and while there are similarities in these specifications, it’s possible Qualcomm introduces binned versions of the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro to mimic Apple’s approach. Given that the San Diego firm is already rumored to offer four chipset options to customers, including the older Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, it’s not surprising that Qualcomm wants to revive its handset business as the memory shortage is slowly chipping away at its primary revenue stream.
The binned Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro units may feature lower CPU and GPU clock speeds, offering a small performance penalty to phone partners in exchange for a cheaper price to use in their devices. Of course, nothing is confirmed at this stage, but we’ll continue to offer updates to readers in the coming weeks. In short, Qualcomm could have a highly stacked chipset lineup this year.
