Google Finally Confirms Why Files are Missing from the Google Drive, No Solution Available at the Moment

It seems that multiple Google Drive users have lost data, and while the company is currently looking into the matter, we don't know if this is just a bug or a permanent issue that will put many users in a frenzy.

Google Drive users are reporting lost data, Google advises not to modify the Drive until the issue is resolved

The issue has been around for a week, but judging by how random it is, not everyone is currently experiencing it. A user reported how his Google Drive files "suddenly disappeared," and his Drive went back to the condition in May 2023, which means that files that were put back in May 2023 and before are still there, but everything after that is gone. The files are not in the trash or anywhere else.

Ever since the issue, the user has taken multiple steps to retrieve his Google Drive data, but nothing has materialized into something that works. Since then, the issue has been reported to Google. Meanwhile, the same issue happened to another user who actually got a response from the company saying that the company was looking into the issue. This proves that whatever users are facing seems to be affecting multiple people.

Google claims the issue is “being investigated by our Product Engineers, and we are also waiting for a root cause analysis on how we can fix it." In the meantime, the company has also asked the users not to make any changes to the root/data folder of Google Drive, which could lead to some unexpected reasons. At this point, it is safe to say that this issue could take a serious turn if handled improperly.

Apparently, several Google Drive users are experiencing this issue, and we are really hoping that the company will look into it and solve it as soon as possible. We will keep a close eye on the matter and will be sure to keep you updated on the situation going forward.
