Samsung Wants to Make Bixby Even More Powerful with Generative AI Features

It appears that Samsung is not ready to give up on Bixby. The company is planning to introduce generative AI features to personal assistants. Unlike the other rumors we come across every now and then, this information is coming from a top executive at Samsung, and there is a possibility that we might see this happen rather soon.

Samsung wants to super-charge Bixby with generative AI features, and I cannot wait for it to come out

In an interview with CNBC, the executive in question talked about how Samsung wants to bring generative AI to Bixby, which honestly does not seem far-fetched and is the right thing to do. This is what Won-joon Choi, executive vice president of Samsung's mobile business unit, said:

“With the emergence of generative AI and LLM (large language model) technology, I believe that we have to redefine the role of the Bixby so that Bixby could be equipped with Generative AI and become more smarter in the future.”

For those who don't know, it has been nearly seven years since Samsung introduced Bixby. Although the assistant had a rough start, it is safe to say that Samsung has not given up on it. With generative AI features coming to the assistant, I can expect it to become even better than it is today.

Sadly, Samsung executive did not share more information on what will become of Bixby once it is loaded with all the generative AI features, but I am genuinely looking forward to it because I believe it is going to become a lot better, intuitive, and an absolute joy to use. I am not sure if it will be able to keep up to date against Google Assistant or Gemini, whatever you want to call it, but considering how Samsung is working on ensuring that its products and services are not lagging behind, I am interested in finding out.

At the start of this year, the company talked about how Bixby and Galaxy AI are going to coexist. At that time, we did not know how that would be possible, but considering how Samsung is super-charging its assistant with generative AI, we do get some idea. I am really excited to see how this actually pans out whenever it does.
