Samsung is just weeks away from launching its next flagship smartphones.

As the 'Galaxy Unpacked' event draws even closer, Samsung is beginning to ramp up the production of the Galaxy S26 series, starting with the Galaxy S26 Ultra, which typically commands around 50 percent of the series' sales mix.

Samsung to start mass producing the Galaxy S26 Ultra this month, with the base S26 and the S26+ expected to enter mass production cadence early next year

The South Korean publication, The Elec, is out with fresh information on the mass production cadence of the upcoming Galaxy S26 series.

According to the report, Samsung will start mass producing the Galaxy S26 Ultra in December, with the base S26 and the S26+ expected to follow suit early next year.

Typically, the Ultra variant commands a ~50 percent share of the S-series' overall sales mix in a given year. As such, it is only logical that Samsung should commence the variant's mass production a little earlier to cater to its higher sales volume.

Elsewhere, the report corroborates earlier tidbits vis-à-vis the base Galaxy S26's camera setup, postulating that the model would debut with last year's camera modules.

Samsung had planned to upgrade the base S26's camera setup this year. However, amid a widespread inflation in the cost of components, the South Korean behemoth has decided against upgrading the base Galaxy S26's cameras in order to maintain price parity with the base iPhone 17, which debuted back in September without any year-over-year price hike, despite sporting an all-new LTPO display and a bumped-up base storage.

As such, the base Galaxy S26 variant is now expected to feature the following camera setup:

  1. A 50MP wide-angle camera lens
  2. A 12MP ultra-wide camera lens
  3. A 10MP telephoto camera lens

Of course, Samsung had already designed the placement of the components within the base S26 with an eye towards upgrading the camera modules. Now that the base variant is retaining the camera modules of the Galaxy S25, some modifications in the design and placement of the variant's internal components would be necessary.

We've previously covered that Samsung is playing it safe in the camera department with the Galaxy S26 series, with nary a change in the offing for the Galaxy S26 Ultra, which is expected to sport almost the same setup as the Galaxy S25 Ultra's:

  1. A 12MP ISOCELL 3LD S5K3LD 3x telephoto (possibly with a smaller, 1/3.94-inch aperture)
  2. A single 200MP ISOCELL HP2 main camera (possibly with a wider aperture)
  3. A 50MP ISOCELL JN3 or Sony IMX564 ultrawide camera
  4. A 50MP IMX854 5x periscope camera (possibly with a wider aperture)
  5. A 12MP IMX874 selfie camera

On a final note, the Galaxy S26 series is expected to launch with built-in magnets, which should help bump-up the series' wireless charging speeds. This development is also expected to unleash an entire array of magnetic accessories for the upcoming smartphones.
