Finally, higher-capacity GDDR7 memory modules are coming to the market soon, and we have even faster ones in the near future.
Samsung's 24 Gb (3 GB) GDDR7 28 Gbps Memory Chip Enters Mass Production; Faster 32 Gbps and 36 Gbps in Sampling
Remember Samsung's 3 GB GDDR7 memory chips seen in the official NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 video? Yeah, that one has just entered mass production. There were several reports a few months back that Samsung has started preparing higher capacity 24 Gb aka 3 GB GDDR7 memory chips, which are expected to be featured in the NVIDIA RTX 50 Super series. Since the DRAM prices have been increasing rapidly, it's expected that the RTX 50 Super series will be delayed to Q3 2026.
That said, this doesn't mean Samsung has changed its plans, as it has just entered Mass Production state for the 3 GB GDDR7 memory modules, as spotted on the official website. The page also reveals that the company has two faster variants of the 3 GB GDDR7 chips, clocked at 32 Gbps and 36 Gbps memory speed. However, both of them are in the Sampling state. The one that entered Mass Production is the 28 Gbps chip, which is used on most GeForce RTX 50 series GPUs, except the RTX 5080, which boasts 30 Gbps GDDR7 memory.
As spotted by @unikoshardware, the 3 GB GDDR7 memory chips seen on the RTX 5090 Founder's Edition card in the official NVIDIA teaser boast the "K4vcf325zc-sc28" identifier. This is the same as seen on Samsung's official website, while the other two variants will boast "K4vcf325zc-sc32" and "K4vcf325zc-sc36", respectively. We don't know if NVIDIA will utilize the 28 Gbps modules or the 32 GB/36 GB ones in its Super lineup, but even the 28 Gbps ones will help in GPUs like GeForce RTX 5070 Super, which will offer 18 GB memory capacity vs 12 GB on the RTX 5070.
Hopefully, NVIDIA utilizes the faster ones on the Super series, which won't just increase the VRAM capacity, but will also deliver higher memory bandwidth for improved gaming performance. At the moment, the RTX 50 Super launch is still in the shadows due to higher DRAM costs, but you may regularly check out our product hub pages to keep an eye on the latest updates. Among them is the RTX 5080 Super, which is rumored to feature the faster 32 Gbps 3 GB GDDR7 memory modules.
