Galaxy owners who have been using the Samsung Care Plus program should have good news soon since the company has decided to revamp its device protection program. Starting in May 2024, Samsung Care Plus will offer users unlimited battery repairs. For those who don't know, Samsung Care Plus is a device protection program that offers several plans to help you ensure that your devices are protected.
Samsung's latest battery repair guidelines are great as long as you don't have any damage to your device
When you are buying the device, you have the option to enroll in the program within 60 days of buying an eligible device. The care plan offers more than just the manufacturer's warranty, as it offers unlimited repairs for drops, spills, and mechanical breakdowns. There is also a $29 screen repair and, in some cases, theft coverage. The plans can range from $10 a month and go all the way to $18 a month for up to 36 months. This is Samsung's way of ensuring that its customer service does not fall behind. Now, the company has decided to offer an even better policy for batteries.
If you are not familiar with it, Samsung Care Plus only offered a one-time battery replacement in the past for eligible devices, and the replacement was also limited to mechanical failures. However, the new update now takes care of the battery if it undergoes health degradation, which happens to all batteries.
If your phone or tablet's battery goes below 79% charging capacity, as confirmed by a diagnostic test, then the user will get free battery repairs under Care Plus. Along with Theft and Loss for the standard Samsung Care Plus plan, getting unlimited repairs throughout your coverage periods is definitely something that a lot of users will be happy with, especially if they are using their devices for a longer period of time.
Of course, users will have the option to go for walk-in repairs. There will also be a mail-in service for battery repairs. Samsung has not clarified if it is also going to cater to completely unhealthy batteries, but that would be interesting to see.
Samsung has also mentioned that there should not be any additional damage to the device, which means that external damage or mishandling could cause some issues. Although I am in favor of this move, you should also know that the pricing for the plan is going to increase by $2 starting in May, which makes sense considering the company is offering such a great repair service.
