Samsung Unveils "OBLYX", a New OLED Branding Dedicated to Gaming Laptops at BW2026 in China
Popular display maker, Samsung Display, has made its first-ever appearance at the Bilibili World 2026 event, which is one of China's largest gaming and anime conventions. The company unveiled OBLYX, which is a new OLED branding for gaming laptops. Apart from showcasing dozens of new products, including smartphones, laptops, and monitors featuring its OLED and QD-OLED displays, the company also introduced OBLYX.
The OBLYX brand is designed to highlight Samsung Display's premium OLED panels for gaming notebooks. According to the company, the name is inspired by Obisidian, which reflects OLED's ability to produce true blacks. Samsung appears to be working on its branding to strengthen its position in the competitive gaming laptop market.
As of now, the company plans to offer various panels for gaming notebooks under the OBLYX brand, including 14-inch, 16-inch, and 18-inch displays. These displays will be available with various refresh rates, such as 120 Hz, 165 Hz, and 240 Hz, ensuring users can enjoy fluid gameplay in their favorite games. The company says that the panel will deliver 0.2ms of response time, which is quick for competitive games, and will also offer 100% DCI-P3 color gamut along with infinite contrast for deep black levels, making the displays ideal for gaming and high fidelity content.
The brand launch comes as OLED adoption continues to expand in the gaming laptop segment. Not just regular monitor vendors, but laptop vendors are also deploying OLEDs to achieve that superb visual quality, which the consumers deserve. With the introduction of the OBLYX brand, Samsung Display appears to be positioning its OLED portfolio as a recognizable platform for gaming laptops.
