The new Odyssey OLED G6 is supposedly the first 500Hz OLED monitor to get an official launch, featuring QHD resolution and a QD-OLED panel for excellent visuals and smooth gameplay.
Samsung Launches Odyssey OLED G6 G60SF 500Hz OLED Gaming Monitor at $999; Unveils 37" and 40" 1000R Curved Displays As Well
Popular monitor maker Samsung has released its newest flagship 27-inch gaming monitor, featuring the highest refresh rate on an OLED panel. The new Odyssey OLED G6 G60SF gaming monitor boasts a staggering 500Hz refresh rate, which Samsung calls the world's first 500Hz OLED gaming monitor for enthusiasts and professional gamers. We have already seen one such offering from MSI, which is actually the first 500Hz OLED gaming monitor boasting 1440p resolution. Nonetheless, Samsung still calls it the first to boast such features (may be due to the first to see a retail launch) and has released two more large gaming monitors, boasting 37-inch and 40-inch screen sizes.
The 500Hz OLED gaming monitor is the Odyssey G6 G60SF, which boasts QHD (2560x1440p) resolution and is built using Samsung's QD-OLED panel for a high contrast ratio of 1M:1 and offers an ultra-low response time of just 0.03ms. The monitor is VESA DisplayHDR True Black 500 certified and can achieve a peak brightness of 1,000 Nits in the HDR mode while bringing Samsung's Glare Free technology for minimizing eye strain.

The G60SF comes with modern technologies such as Flicker Free and Black Equalizer for a better visual experience, and comes with FreeSync Premium Pro technology and G-Sync compatibility to reduce screen tearing. The monitor is still equipped with the older 1.4 DisplayPort, which offers around 32 Gbps of bandwidth. With such a high refresh rate, DP 2.1 would have been a much better option for uncompressed visuals, but DP 1.4 should get the job done as well.
We already have some newly launched high-end QD-OLED displays from other manufacturers, which ship with the latest DP 2.1 UHBR for uncompressed visuals. Keeping the difference aside, Samsung has announced two new form-factor high-end gaming monitors, featuring an unusual 37-inch screen size and a 40-inch large display as well. Both are launched in the Odyssey G7 lineup, featuring a 1000R curved display for maximum immersion. The 37-inch Odyssey G7 G75F boasts 4K resolution with up to 165Hz refresh rate while the 40-inch Odyssey G7 G75F features 5K resolution with up to 180Hz refresh rate. Both offer AMD FreeSync Premium Pro and are VESA DisplayHDR600 certified.
The Odyssey OLED G6 with 2K@500Hz OLED gaming monitor has been launched for $999, while the 37-inch Odyssey G7 is a bit cheaper at $899. The 40-inch model is priced at $1199 and all three models are currently available for purchase on Samsung's official online store.
