AMD is reportedly bringing more excellent mid-range Ryzen AI Max SKUs next year and they are expected to not just bring improvements in specs, but should also support higher memory speed.

AMD is Rumoredly Preparing Ryzen AI Max "Refresh" SKUs With LPDDR5X-8533 MT/s Memory Support

One of our sources has informed us that AMD isn't ending the Ryzen AI Max series with Strix Halo, and will extend by releasing "Refreshes" that will target the mainstream market. Not much has been revealed regarding the SKUs and specifications, but we can expect mid-range and high-end offerings with similarly powerful integrated graphics as found on the Strix Halo.

While refreshed SKUs mostly bring higher clocks and some changes in the specs, most specifications still remain unchanged. The Ryzen AI Max Refresh, therefore, isn't going to bring any "groundbreaking" upgrades. However, the new SKUs should support higher memory speed, and it's expected that they will support LPDDR5X 8533 MT/s speeds, a small jump from the current 8,000 MT/s supported by Strix Halo.

The user @realVictor_M also reported that some upcoming Ryzen AI Max processors should support 8533 MT/s, but he isn't confident whether these SKUs will be the upcoming Ryzen AI Max+ 388 and 392 CPUs leaked last month, or if there are some newer variants. The 8533 MT/s speed will likely be supported by the Refresh series, since both Ryzen AI Max+ 388 and 392 are part of the current Ryzen AI Max, aka Strix Halo series.

We are really excited to see the changes AMD will offer in the new Refresh series, and "may" tease the new series at CES 2026. We’re also waiting for the Ryzen AI Max+ 388 to get an official release, as it appears to offer a strong balance between performance and cost for handhelds. It includes the flagship Radeon 8060S iGPU while using only half the CPU core count of the Ryzen AI Max+ 395. We hope the Refresh series brings similarly appealing SKUs as well, which can be adopted faster in the mobile segment.
