A quick way to open your favorite PlayStation 3 games right from Steam, making them more accessible than ever.
RPCS3 Adds Option to Add PlayStation 3 Games Directly to Steam for a Quick Launch; Also Runs in the Big Picture Mode
The RPCS3 team has been making some serious progress in recent times. The software recently enabled directly mounting the PlayStation 3 ISO files to run the games, and now it has just added the option to launch the titles from Steam. At the moment, Steam is the biggest platform on PC and is quite popular even on gaming handhelds. Not only does it host hundreds of thousands of games, but it also features an easy-to-use interface.
Considering this, the RPCS3 team has made a major update that will bring more convenience for gamers. Traditionally, one has to open the RPCS3 tool to launch a PlayStation 3 game, but with the new update, the games can be launched directly from the Steam library. As shown by RPCS3, any PlayStation 3 game can be added directly to Steam through Manage Game > Create Steam Shortcut. This option will put your PS3 games directly in the library list.
Now you can just launch the game directly from Steam without having to open the RPCS3 UI. This will be perfect for regular desktops/laptops as well as gaming handhelds, where gamers usually launch most of their games from Steam. RPCS3, at the moment, can launch the majority of PlayStation 3 games without any issues. As per the latest announcement, nearly 70% PS3 titles can run using the emulator.
Roughly two months ago, RPCS3 developers also expanded the compatibility to Windows ARM64 PCs, which was a huge move. Making the emulator available to millions of new devices will significantly increase adoption, and listing PS3 titles directly on Steam will further expand its reach. RPCS3 devs also announced that PS3 games will be available directly from Steam's Big Picture Mode, which makes launching it as easy as any other native Steam game.
