Rise of the Tomb Raider PC January Release Date Confirmed Via Steam

Dec 27, 2015 at 03:59am EST

Two weeks ago, we were the first to report that Rise of the Tomb Raider PC had been pinned for a January 29, 2016 release date by Amazon France.

Of course, it was very much a rumor back then. Still, it was a credible one given the "early 2016" release window officially mentioned by Square Enix for Rise of the Tomb Raider PC; the disappointing sales on Xbox One and Xbox 360 certainly drove the publisher to release the game as soon as possible on other platforms.

However, today Steam added the game product page on the store which leaves no doubt - the game will indeed be out in January 2016.

Featuring epic, high-octane action moments set in the most beautiful hostile environments on earth, Rise of the Tomb Raider delivers a cinematic survival action adventure where you will join Lara Croft on her first tomb raiding expedition as she seeks to discover the secret of immortality.

Steam doesn't offer anything else regarding this version, including system requirements, but it's safe to assume that Square Enix will want to brief gamers shortly given the release date.

The game has reviewed very well in most publications (including our own), and provided that whoever is handling the port does a fine job Rise of the Tomb Raider PC may turn out to be a masterpiece.

Of course, we'll bring you every detail about this version of the game (which has been confirmed for PlayStation 4 as well, though that version will only release on Holiday 2016 due to Microsoft's exclusivity agreement) as soon as it is announced. Stay tuned.
