Conclusion - Not For The Average Joe!

It's been two years since MSI released its last Unify motherboard and that was back in the Z690 series. The manufacturer did release the MPOWER option which became a popular mainstream OC option but the company has gone back to the drawing boards to offer something that really entices the premium overclocking and enthusiast market, the Unify-X is back!

Offering a robust power solution equipped with 20 110A power stages, support for up to 9600 MT/s DDR5 memory, and featuring superb cooling, the MSI MEG Z890 Unify-X is a strong return of the overclocking champion, a series that has set various records before and is all set to break new ones with the Intel Core Ultra 200S series.

IO on the motherboard includes 19 USB ports including a Type-C on the front which supports 27W power delivery and two Thunderbolt 4 ports. There's also WIFI7 and 5 GbE LAN plus there are a phenomenal six M.2 slots which include two Gen5 x4 and four Gen4 x4 slots. MSI didn't leave any mark unchecked when designing this board.

  • EZ Toolless Design For GPU, M.2 Slots
  • Good BIOS Firmware
  • Tuning Controller makes tuners job easy
  • ATX Form Factor

Things that we would have liked to see:

  • Better placement for CMOS battery
  • Dual LAN ports
  • Power on/off & reset buttons

MSI's MEG Z890 Unify-X is a banger, featuring insane overclocking capabilities and support for some of the fastest DDR5 DRAM overclocks ever. For tuners and overclockers, the Unify-X is a strongly positioned motherboard in the premium OC niche and we are soon going to see several world records being broken using this motherboard. MSI's engineers have put a lot of work in this iteration of the Unify and the work seems to have paid off!
