TBDConclusion - Silent, Elegant, Solid Performance
MSI's EXPERT series is back with the Blackwell RTX 50 series. Today, we tested the top variant in the EXPERT series, the GeForce RTX 5080 EXPERT OC, which looks and performs brilliantly as ever.
Starting with the design, there are many fans of the EXPERT series out there, and they finally have an RTX 50 option on the market. The series will be available in both 5080 and 5070 Ti flavors. MSI retains the same Non-RGB, push/pull, and elegant look that we saw on their RTX 40 EXPERT series. The grill on the front is now more spacious, allowing for more air to flow through it, while the champagne-gold and black color scheme looks spectacular.

The card features a very strong PCB solution, almost on the same level as its SUPRIM and Vanguard GPUs, allowing for some decent OC headroom. As for the cooler itself, the two Stormforce fans do a pretty good job, maintaining almost similar temperatures as the higher-end Vanguard and SUPRIM coolers, but with a much lower noise output. The Stormforce fans in this particular push/pull configuration are super silent. This combination of vapor chamber, flow frozr 2, and an encased design does a superb job in cooling and noise output.
Things we liked about the MSI GeForce RTX 5080 EXPERT OC:
- Lots of gaming performance for 4K
- Efficient and only 15W difference vs 4080
- Same PCB as higher-end Vanguard/SUPRIM models
- Built for 4K 240Hz gaming monitors
- Designed With Next-Gen Neural Rendering
- Good Raster & RT Improvement
- Next-Gen Blackwell Architecture With Several AI Additions
- 30 Gbps GDDR7 Memory
- DLSS4 Offers Better Image Quality
- DLSS4 MFG Offers 4x FPS Boost
- EXPERT series offers premium and elegant look
- Cooling Performance is Superb
- Very low noise output with 0db operation
- Next-Gen Video Encode/Decode Engines
- DP2.1b (UHBR20) support
- PCIe Express 5.0 technology
Things we would have liked about the MSI GeForce RTX 5080 EXPERT OC:
- Performance not being a huge uplift versus 4080/4080 SUPER
- Lower Price Point
- GDDR7 Memory runs hot
- A bigger memory capacity (still 16 GB)
- A few games with Neural Shaders at launch
MSI has another solid EXPERT series out, the new RTX 5080 EXPERT OC delivers an elegant look, solid cooling performance, and runs super quiet. This combination, along with the RGB-less look, is perfect for gamers & professionals who want quiet operation, stable performance, and great cooling in one package. The RTX 5080 EXPERT OC is also significantly smaller than the other two Vanguard/SUPRIM options.
Note: As of right now, the MSI RTX 5080 EXPERT OC is expected to be priced at a premium of $1399-$1499 US, which is in line with top-end RTX 5080 models from other manufacturers.
