Epomaker TH85 Wireless Gaming Keyboard Review – Solid, Compact & a Budget-Friendly Option

Muhammad Zuhair

Epomaker is one of the top brands offering keyboards tailored to gamers. We have reviewed several products from the firm in the past, ranging from mini-sized to top-quality ones. This time, the firm has sent us their new "mid-sized" option, the Epomaker TH85, which offers excellent connectivity options, solid typing experience, and most of all, RGB all over!

Epomaker TH85 - One of the Options To Look At For an Awesome Gaming/Typing Experience

For me, finding the right keyboard has always been a problem. If you compromise on the size, you'll likely end up losing keys that have traditionally been important. However, opting for a specific switch type, or even color scheme, also brings in compromises, hence there isn't a fine line in this segment. However, with Epomaker's TH85, I felt that this keyboard could be great for almost every use case, judging by its size, looks, typing experience, and much more, which we'll cover ahead.

Epomaker TH85 Keyboard - Unboxing & Close-Up

Well, Epomaker's keyboards generally have a similar kind of packaging experience. The cardboard material at the front usually shows the branding, and the color scheme is totally "unrelated," which I don't know where the company gets it from. When you open the box, you'll see the keyboard covered up in a protective plastic case, which definitely helps when shipping the unit across different regions.

In the box, you get the standard manual, a Type-C USB cable, a keycap puller, and a 2.4 GHz USB to connect the keyboard wirelessly. There's also extra Jade switches onboard if you need a replacement, which is pretty much it. Nothing too extraordinary going around with the packaging.

The keyboard's design is what made it an impressive product for me, since apart from its lightweight build, it is one of the most decorative options by Epomaker when it comes to RGB. You almost have lights going around everywhere, including the keycaps, the housing around it, and even at the side of the keyboard, which makes it an excellent option for RGB lovers. Other keyboards that I have reviewed previously from this manufacturer had "bare" RGB lights, but the TH85 has them almost everywhere.

Apart from aesthetics, this keyboard offers an 80% QWERTY layout, which moves out the dedicated numpad section in conventional keyboards towards the right. This is an optimal way of reducing keyboard size, given that you don't get to see a compromise in any other buttons, such as the function keys, and the 80% design also has a bold presence on the table. This design strikes a balance between everything and is something to consider if you are looking for a compact option.

Epomaker TH85 Keyboard - Jade Switches & Typing Experience

The TH85 keyboard features Epomaker's native Jade switches, offering a a 5-pin Linear mechanism with a 45±5gf operating force. The typing experience is undoubtedly a delight, part of which has to be played with the gasket-mounted structure of the TH85, dampening the sound to the point that it is pleasant to the ear. Moreover, with PBT Plastic keycaps. Not only do you get durability, but also a cleaner look, since PBT avoids thumb impressions from being on the keycap.

Epomaker TH85 Keyboard Conclusion - A Great Option For a Well-Rounded Budget-Friendly Keyboard

The TH85 is a recommended option for consumers who are looking for a mid-tier gaming keyboard that isn't only wireless but also offers everything in one package. Moreover, with a price tag of $79.99, the TH85 is indeed a budget-friendly option, making it accessible to a wide range of audiences.
