Conclusion - Great For Gamers!

ASRock's Nova returns with an advanced set of features, a fully upgraded design, and still rocking those great gaming looks.

Compared to the last-gen Z790 Nova, the Z890 Nova is an upgrade across the board. It features a much more capable VRM design with 110A SPS power delivery versus 90A, support for 9600 MT/s memory versus 8200 MT/s, offers dual LAN ports versus just one. There are a total of 21 USB ports including dual Thunderbolt 4 which is impressive and the six M.2 slots are definitely the biggest plus on ASRock's Z890 lineup including the Taichi.

In terms of performance, the ASRock PG Nova Z890 motherboard delivered great results in both CPU and memory testing. The VRMs do exclude the active-fan cooler that was featured on the last-generation Nova but can be seen as a good thing as users won't have to worry about excessive noise output. The heatsinks as they are will be just as much capable of keeping the VRMs running cool without worrying about high temperatures.

The things we loved about the ASRock Z890 Taichi:

  • Solid Upgrade Over the Z790 NOVA
  • Strong VRM Solution
  • Faster Memory Support (9600 MT/s+)
  • Great VRM Heatsink
  • Lots of USB ports (Including Dual Thunderbolt 4 - Total 21 vs 19 on Z790 Nova)
  • Six M.2 slots with heatsinks
  • Latest WIFI7 & BT5.4 Support
  • EZ Toolless Design For GPU & All M.2 Slots
  • Added M.2 Expansion Card
  • Dual LAN Ports (5+2.5 GbE)
  • Solid BIOS Firmware
  • ATX Form Factor

Things that we would have liked to see:

  • Same price as Z790 PG NOVA would've made Z890 PG NOVA a killer product
  • More Audio Jacks

ASRock's well-established Phantom Gaming lineup sees another Nova product, this time with the Z890 chipset and it once again offers a stunning array of features, IO, power delivery, and more. It also comes in at a very attractive price point given its huge set of features which is only $50 US more than the previous entry.
