This morning, CAPCOM revealed in a press release that Resident Evil Requiem has already surpassed five million units sold globally in just six days since its February 27 launch. We already had an inkling of the game's excellent commercial performance based on how easily it smashed prior franchise concurrency records on Steam. User reviews on Valve's platform are also Overwhelmingly Positive (96% right now), and the game currently holds the best user score on Metacritic, tied with Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.
Weirdly enough, though, CAPCOM does not boast of Resident Evil Requiem being the fastest-selling franchise entry, even though it clearly is. Resident Evil Village took nearly nine months to surpass 5.7 million units, and back then, CAPCOM did claim it was the fastest-selling Resident Evil game to date. The Resident Evil 4 remake then outsold Village, surpassing the same milestone in less than four months, but Requiem did it in less than a week. Why not mention it?
Regardless, there's no doubt the company is very happy with the performance. According to a fresh rumor shared by leaker Dusk Golem, they're already in the latter part of developing a Resident Evil Requiem DLC focused on Leon Kennedy.
