AMD has introduced its Ryzen 3 4300G "Zen 2" APU for Asian markets targeting the budget segment with pricing close to $100 US.
AMD Intros 3-Year Old & Zen 2-Powered Ryzen 3 4300G APU For Chinese Markets, Aiming Budget Segment at $110 US
The APU which is part of the Renoir Ryzen 4000G was launched three years ago in 2020 but the line was mostly kept exclusive to the OEM segment. Now, AMD has decided to offer the same chip for the DIY segment which could indicate that there are a large number of units that are in warehouses that didn't happen to ship through OEMs. The CPU will have a price of 15,800 Yen in Japan which is around $115 US (tax included).
The AMD Ryzen 3 4300G "100-100000144BOX" APU is an entry-level design featuring 4 cores and 8 threads. The processor is low-powered and considered entry-level for consumers. Maximum boost clocks on the Ryzen 3 4300 G-Series APU with Radeon Graphics reach as high as 4.0 GHz, with the base clock at 3.8 GHz. The total L3 cache is 4 MB, with the L1 cache at 256 KB and the L2 cache at 2 MB. The default TDP is 65W but does have a configurable TDP that ranges between 45 to 65 watts.
AMD's Ryzen 3 4300G APU with Radeon Graphics is based on the TSMC 7nm FinFET process technology, placing it in the company's "Renoir" Zen 2 architecture. It uses the AM4 CPU socket with a maximum operating temperature of 95° Celsius. AMD first introduced it in July 2020. The chip supports Windows 10 and 11 (64-bit version), RHEL x86, and Ubuntu x86, both being the 64-bit edition.
The AMD Ryzen 3 4300G APU supports PCIe 3.0 and DDR4-3200 system memory with dual memory channels for connectivity. The Radeon Graphics integrated into the chip offers a core count of 6 and a graphics frequency of 1700 MHz.

Interestingly, the processor is listed as unlocked for overclocking but would not pose quite a threat against most modern entry-level processors currently on the market. The AMD Ryzen 7 3700X scores almost double in benchmarks compared to this particular processor. However, those looking for a home-based system with low power for essential work, such as word processing and browsing the internet, might find this processor mildly helpful. Even a system with an AMD Ryzen 5 3600 processor can outperform this specific processor. The CPU is expected to hit retail in Asian markets on the 10th of March.
