Red Dead Redemption 2, the new entry in the series created by Rockstar, has finally been announced back in October, but very little is known about the game, other than it will feature an online mode which will likely be in the vein of the popular Grand Theft Auto Online. A new recent rumor, however, might have provided some new details regarding both the single player and online portions of the game.
According to this rumor, Red Dead Redemption 2 will not be all that different from the previous entry in the series, featuring a big single player story, open world, gang hideouts and more. Unlike the previous game, Red Dead Redemption 2 will feature three playable characters who are members of John Marston's former gang, but John himself won't be playable. Additionally, the online mode will launch sometime after release like it was for Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online.
While the source is anonymous, the poster still seems to be somewhat reliable. Reddit user killazspain noted how it's the same poster who correctly revealed information regarding the GTA Online Bikers DLC and Import/Export DLC before official announcements, so there's the chance that this person indeed has legit info regarding Red Dead Redemption 2. In any case, taking all this with a grain of salt definitely won't hurt.
Last month, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick discussed the Red Dead Redemption 2 reveal trailer reception, noting how the time is right to show a different view of America.
The conventional wisdom was of course that a western wouldn’t work. We took a different point of view, which is that very occasionally westerns capture the imagination of the public.
