[UPDATE - March 27, 2026] Sony has confirmed the rumor: the PS5 disc edition will cost $649.99/€649.99/£569.99, the PS5 digital edition goes up to $599.99/€599.99/£519.99, and the PS5 Pro will be priced at $899.99/€899.99/£789.99. Moreover, the PlayStation Portal will cost $249.99/€249.99/£219.99. All the price changes will be effective starting April 2, 2026.

[ORIGINAL STORY] According to French content creator Gyo, retailers have been alerted to an imminent price hike across Sony's entire PlayStation console family, including PS5 Slim, PS5 Pro, and PS Portal. The prices of both the Slim and the Pro would increase by €100, with a higher percentage increase for the former, while the handheld cloud-powered PS Portal would be priced €30 higher than the current price.

Here's a table comparing the current and rumored pricing:

ConsoleCurrent EU MSRPRumoured New PriceIncrease% Hike
PlayStation 5 Slim Digital Edition€499.99
PlayStation 5 Slim Disc Edition€549.99€649.99+€100+18.2%
PlayStation 5 Pro€799.99€899.99+€100+12.5%
PS Portal€219.99€249.99+€30+13.6%

The content creator did not mention the PS5 Slim Digital Edition specifically, but if it follows the same +€100 pattern as the other increases, it could be priced at €599.99 with a steep 20% increase.

As you might recall, during its nearly six years on the market, the PlayStation 5 has already received two price hikes. The first one was announced on August 25, 2022, with a €50 increase on both the disc and digital editions of the consoles:

Then, on April 13, 2025, the PS5 Slim Digital Edition received another €50 increase, bringing the price to €499.99, a +11.1% price hike.

Take the rumor with a grain of salt, but given the current international climate and the ongoing memory and storage component crisis, another price hike is definitely not impossible. If confirmed, the PS5 Slim disc edition would cost more than Microsoft's Xbox Series X, which currently costs €599.99.

We'll stay on top of this rumor with any confirmations or denials from Sony. Stay tuned.
