PNY Reportedly Honors RMA Request By Sending GeForce RTX 5070 Ti Instead Of RTX 5070

A PNY GeForce RTX 5070 Ti graphics card is displayed above its packaging which features the text 'DLSS 4 | Ray Tracing | Reflex | Studio'.

That's nearly a $400 upgrade with the current pricing trend. We don't see such upgrades often, but we are happy for the user.

User Sends Dead GeForce RTX 5070 for Replacement, PNY Sends Him GeForce RTX 5070 Ti Instead

This story seems familiar, but it's definitely not the only time this happened. Vendors sometimes do offer better hardware in RMAs, and our fellow u/lulnerdge looked too excited to share this with others. As per the user, his brother gave him the PNY GeForce RTX 5070 as he had already upgraded. However, this GPU was dead, and he didn't want to face any RMA hassles.

Hence, u/lulnerdge applied for an RMA request, and not only was he able to get a replacement pretty quickly, he also received a better GPU. PNY reportedly sent him a "GeForce RTX 5070 Ti" instead of the RTX 5070. RTX 5070 Ti is much superior, has more VRAM, and costs nearly $300-$400 more at the time of writing. While officially launched at $750, the RTX 5070 Ti is available for at least a 1000 dollars these days.

On the other hand, the GeForce RTX 5070 costs nearly $600-$700 at the moment due to a price surge. So, basically, he received a $400 upgrade in a few days. It's unclear whether PNY sent the RTX 5070 Ti to him by mistake or intentionally. It appears to be due to the former reason, as RTX 5070 Ti has lower availability, and it makes no sense to send a better GPU, except if they didn't have an RTX 5070 in stock, which is unlikely.

In any case, he is allowed to keep the better GPU. NVIDIA's RTX 5070 Ti can easily 20% gains over the RTX 5070, and this performance difference can vary based on the resolution and the hardware configuration. With 4 GB more VRAM, the RTX 5070 Ti makes sure intensive titles have no problems when the graphics presets are cranked up to the max.
