The Pixel Fold is finally available for everyone to get their hands on, and this means that we can finally get some results from people who are actually using the phone as their daily driver. Popular testing website DXOMark has also come through their scores for the new foldable, and the company is praising the new foldable across multiple categories, perhaps giving us a reason to believe in just how good the new device is.
The Pixel Fold looks to be the best foldable that has been released this year, a clear sign that other companies need to step up
Now, DXOMark is known for testing phones across various categories, so we will start with the first one, the display. Apparently, the new Pixel Fold is the best foldable in terms of display, as it has managed to take the top spot with 151 points. The publication has mentioned that the new foldable offers “good, adapted brightness and contrast for HDR10 video content”. The publication also talked about how color management also remains excellent throughout. This is, of course, for the internal display.
The Pixel Fold also works really smoothly with little to no jitters that we usually see on foldable phones. In addition to that, the publication has praised the new foldable for having the brightest panel on any foldable, with the main display going as high as 1,430 nits. Considering how you are dealing with a foldable, it should not come as a surprise that the crease will be visible when you are outdoors, but hey, it's foldable, and we cannot really deduct any points here.
Moving on, the Google Pixel phones have always been known for their excellent cameras, and this does not change with the Pixel Fold as the phone scored a really nice 133 points in the test, coming at 28th spot, and while this might make it sound like a disappointing offering, there are some excellent camera phones out in the market, and when you are talking about a foldable, camera is really not the main attraction that most people are interested in.
The phone did score well in the main category, and if you are looking for a device where you can take it out and shoot a picture, the Pixel Fold is going to be that. The publication has noted that the autofocus, dynamic range, and exposure are handled exceptionally well, and while the bokeh performance does fall short, it is not something to nitpick about.
Last but not least, the publication has also talked about how the Pixel Fold offers really nice audio quality, and while it is still on the 38th spot, the phone does offer a nice sound signature. I would always suggest that you use headphones for a proper experience, but it is nice to see that Google has paid attention to speakers, as well.
Overall, I am glad that Pixel Fold has become a beacon for other companies to follow because, let's be honest, we have not seen a lot of innovation in foldable devices. However, it does leave me worrying, considering how yesterday, we discovered that the phone has a possible design flaw, which could lead to a lot of trouble for several users.
