OnePlus 15 first look at the flagship's impressive gaming performance thanks to the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5

The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 has officially been announced and with it, a phalanx of Android flagship smartphones will eventually begin flooding markets, including the OnePlus 15, whose gaming performance figures were posted in the latest preview. While there is a ton that we do not about the device, we can conclude that its ability to match the iPhone 17 Pro Max in maintaining steady framerates and thermals are impressive. Also, the 165Hz refresh rate display is a major upgrade that does not receive enough credit.

Only one game was demonstrated to run at OnePlus 15’s native refresh rate, which is why the company has partnered with game developers to open up optimization doors for other titles

With an earlier look at the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5’s multi-core compute scores concluding that we are looking at the world’s fastest mobile CPU in Geekbench 6, we now turn our attention to the OnePlus 15’s gaming performance. Geekerwan took the flagship to its paces and tested four games to see how this smartphone would perform. Unfortunately, the device was not tested with any native AAA games because there are not any made for Google’s Android platform.

Also, running those games via emulation would not be a fair comparison. Fortunately, you will be pleased to learn that the OnePlus 15 can compete ‘head on’ with the iPhone 17 Pro Max in games like Honkai Impact 3rd, Wuthering Waves, Honor of Kings, and lastly, Delta Force. Given that Apple’s top-tier flagship can deliver up to a 69 percent framerate boost in AAA games like Resident Evil 4 Remake, Death Stranding, and Assassin’s Creed Mirage when compared to the A18 Pro, we are confident you will appreciate the results below:

Honkai Impact 3rd tested at 770p resolution

The Xiaomi 17 has already been confirmed to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, and it is only a matter of time before the OnePlus 15’s announcement goes official. If you want to check out the synthetic benchmarks performed on the smartphone prior to its launch, Geekerwan posted them in his video, so check those out when you get the time.
