The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 announcement is expected to happen later this month, with one of the first Android flagships featuring Qualcomm’s latest and greatest SoC being the OnePlus 15. The company has started its usual trend of obtaining as many eyeballs as possible. On this occasion, before the grand unveiling, we have not stumbled upon any teasers highlighting the device’s top-end specifications or battery capacity, but some camera samples that take advantage of OPPO’s LUMO Condensed Light Imaging System.
A new imaging algorithm is expected to be a part of the OnePlus 15, with the company bidding farewell to its long partnership with Hasselblad
The 4-year collaboration between OnePlus and Swedish firm Hasselblad has come to an end, with the smartphone maker now introducing its in-house DetailMax Imaging Engine. Thanks to the time that OnePlus and Hasselblad spent improving photography and videography on mobile devices, the company’s upcoming flagship will leverage all of those valuable experiences and show them in the samples below. In addition to the OnePlus 15 using the DetailMax Imaging System, the text data shown in the samples mentions using the LUMO Condensed Light Imaging System.
OPPO first introduced this technology on the Find X8s series earlier this year, with the OnePlus 15 now expected to ship with it. LUMO is designed to improve various imaging elements such as bokeh effects, movement, and telephoto prowess. Combining the use of upgraded imaging hardware with advanced computational techniques, we see that the OnePlus 15 can process crisp detail from its samples. Looking at the specifications from the gallery, we noticed that the device features an F/2.8 aperture, plus a focal length of 85mm, and varying shutter speeds.
There is no telling how much post-editing went into making these samples appear as detailed as they are, but given that the OnePlus 15 launch is just around the corner, it will not take long for the comparisons to arrive, and we will soon know which high-end smartphone is superior in this category.
