Rumor has it that this year's OnePlus 12 is going to bring a much-needed camera upgrade in the form of a periscope camera finally being added to the phone. Now, the reason why this is being considered an update for the flagship is that a reliable leaker has suggested that the company is currently testing a phone running SM8650, which happens to be the alleged Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.
OnePlus 12 to offer a periscope camera with Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 under the hood
Now, this is definitely an upgrade because we have been seeing OnePlus use standard telephoto offerings, and while they are good, the zoom quality offers, and you do not get many details. Having a periscope camera in the OnePlus 12 could result in much better image quality in the zoomed-in pictures.
Now, it is worth noting that OnePlus 12 is still not coming out any time soon. The OnePlus 11 launched globally earlier this year, so there is no point in releasing a successor. However, in the coming days, one could expect a lot more information to come forward, and we will be sure to keep you posted about everything we learn regarding the next flagship.
If this rumor is true, the OnePlus 12 will be the first publically available device with a periscope camera. There have been reports about other devices from the company sporting this sensor, but none of them made it to the sense. Of course, as we get closer to the official release date, we will be able to provide you with more information.
You can expect the OnePlus 12 to sport the new camera system, including an improved primary camera, Android 14 out of the box, Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, and crazy-fast charging speeds. We will make sure to provide you with more details as they come forward.
Although OnePlus devices are great, they normally sport average camera systems when compared to the competition. Here is hoping that the OnePlus 12 changes it and we get our hands on a camera that truly deserves to be in a flagship phone. Let us know what you look forward to in the next flagship killer in the comments below.
