With the latest ONEXGPU eGPU, the company has adopted the fastest Thunderbolt port to offer increased bandwidth, which will eventually deliver superior performance compared to Thunderbolt 4.

ONEXGPU With RX 7600M XT Gets a Faster Version With 80 Gbps Thunderbolt 5 Interface

ONE-NETBOOK, a Chinese hardware manufacturer that produces external GPUs and gaming handhelds, has reportedly prepared its first Thunderbolt 5-based external GPU. While we only have a handful of Thunderbolt 5-based eGPUs like the 2025 ROG XG Mobile, they are only going to increase in the coming months as vendors are realizing the importance of high bandwidth.

If you are aware, ONE-NETBOOK has an external GPU called ONEXGPU, offering RDNA 3.0-based Radeon RX 7600M XT. It is supposedly the world's first portable eGPU that can fit inside your pocket and comes with the OCulink interface. While OCulink is quite decent in performance, offering 64 Gbps of bandwidth, the latest edition brings a Thunderbolt 5 port, bringing a solid 80 Gbps of bandwidth. With a 16 Gbps of bandwidth increase, one should see noticeable changes in performance, which will make gaming even more pleasant.

The company hasn't shared much regarding its specs but we do have one of its first pics, revealing a quite different design than the original ONEXGPU. The original one is thinner and smaller, but the latest edition seems to have improved in cooling and other areas as well. The front of the eGPU has an array of LED lights, making it more aesthetically pleasing. We don't know its detailed specs except that it will now use the Thunderbolt 5 port instead of the OCulink.

Considering ONE-NETBOOK retains or improves the specs of ONEXGPU, we should see either PCIe 4.0 or PCIe 5.0 slot for the M.2 SSD. The original model comes with the older PCIe 3.0 interface and as majority of hardware manufacturers have already moved on to the latest Gen 5.0 interface, we should be seeing a faster SSD port. The new ONEXGPU should also carry a bunch of USB Type A and Type C ports similar to the original one, including a power delivery port for fast charging devices.

Keep in mind that ONE-NETBOOK hasn't officially announced the latest ONEXGPU yet but we should be seeing more details in the coming days.
