Apple's plans for the next generation of the iPad Pro models will feature significantly smaller bezels than the current models. While the OLED iPad Pro refresh was a major step up from the previous versions, the company kept the bezel size more or less the same. Despite being thinner, the bezels on the OLED iPad Pro are far thicker than the tablets offered by the competition, including Samsung's Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra and the OnePlus Pad 3.
A new leak suggests that Apple’s next iPad Pro will feature ultra-thin bezels and completely eliminate the notch using advanced display technology
Prolific Weibo-based leaker Instant Digital claims that the bezels on the future iPad Pro models will be as thin as Samsung's Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra. The leaker also claims that the iPad Pro will not have a notch, unlike the Tab S10 Ultra, which the tablet proudly brags about on the front. Since the bezels will be getting thin, the only way Apple will eliminate the notch or the Dynamic Island is through in-display sensors.
We have recently covered that Apple will use LG's chip-on-film or CoF technology on future models of the iPad Pro, which will allow the device to feature slimmer bezels all around. As mentioned, the bezels on the M4 variant are slightly smaller than the previous generation models, but the next iteration would boast even slimmer boundaries.
It is worth mentioning that the slimmer bezels would not be coming anytime soon, as Apple has just upgraded the design of the iPad Pro models. The M4 iPad Pro models are significantly thinner than the prior models, especially the bigger 13-inch variant, which comes in at just 5.1mm thin. The M5 iPad Pro will be released later this year, but it will feature the same design as the current version, apart from some cosmetic changes. For instance, the Apple logo on the backplate of the iPad Pro will be positioned in landscape orientation instead of portrait. This means the Apple logo would appear upright when held in landscape mode.
The next iPad Pro upgrade will enter the mass production stage in the second half of this month, which gives us an indication that the launch will happen sooner than expected, possibly alongside the M5 MacBook Pro upgrade. Initially, it was reported that the M5 iPad Pro models will be released in 2026, as Apple would want to stick to its typical launch time frame. We will share more details on the design of the iPad Pro, so be sure to keep an eye out.
