NVIDIA's "mid-range" GeForce RTX 5070 is now reported to launch by early March, seeing a delay in the original release schedule likely to target AMD's RX 9070 series debut.
NVIDIA's RTX 5070 Could Very Well Steal AMD's RX 9070 Series Launch Spotlight, Given That Team Green Ensures Optimal Inventory Levels
Well, it seems like Team Green has realized that the mainstream GPU segment is about to heat up next month, which is why it is now rumored (via MEGAsizeGPU) that the GeForce RTX 5070 will see a retail launch in early March, which was initially expected by the end of this month. While the reason behind this delay hasn't been specified yet, it is certainly an influence of AMD's RDNA 4 launch, and NVIDIA may be determined to nail the release of an RTX Blackwell GPU, considering that the GeForce RTX 5090 and the RTX 5080 was a mess.

For a quick rundown on specifications, NVIDIA's GeForce RTX 5070 will be based on the GB205 die, with the VRAM capacity being the same as the previous generation, at 12 GB on a 192-bit bus except for a faster GDDR7 memory. The GPU boost clock for the RTX 5070 is 2512 MHz, which is slightly higher than the 2475 MHz on the RTX 4070. The card will feature 28 Gbps memory speeds for up to 672 GB/s of total bandwidth, with a TBP of 250W, a decent increase over RTX 4000 70-class models.
Well, NVIDIA claims that the GeForce RTX 5070 rivals the GeForce RTX 4090, but we won't go into this statement since we know that the on-launch situation tends to differ from what is advertised. However, when you look at relative performance alongside the GeForce RTX 4070, we expect significant improvements, up to 2 times higher performance in titles such as Black Myth: Wukong, with DLSS and Ray-Tracing playing an essential part in these results.
Stacking up the GeForce RTX 5070 alongside AMD's RX 9070 series, we can say that the closest counterpart turns out to be the RX 9070, which will have a VRAM advantage since the latter model is expected to feature 16 GB GDDR6 memory. Since we haven't seen any performance benchmarks for the RX 9070, we cannot really conclude how big of a gap the industry will see between NVIDIA's 70-class GPUs and AMD's RDNA 4 SKUs, but it is safe to say that competition will be tight.
Given that Team Green manages to nail the inventory levels and ensure that models are available at the proposed $549 MSRP, NVIDIA could very well see massive sales traction, which will play a key role in stealing the spotlight from AMD's RX 9070 series launch.
