NVIDIA's GeForce RTX 40 GPUs are reportedly going to see a price hike in China due to changing currency exchange rate.

Chinese Consumers To See Increased Prices on NVIDIA GeForce RTX 40 GPUs Due To Exchange Rates

Chinese Board Channel forums (via MyDrivers) have reported that prices for mid to high-end NVIDIA GeForce RTX 40 GPUs which include the RTX 4060, RTX 4060 Ti, RTX 4070, RTX 4070 Ti, RTX 4080 & the RTX 4090 will see a price increase anywhere from 2-3% starting July.

The main reason behind the price hike is said to be changing exchange rates due to which NVIDIA has notified its board partners to implement necessary price changes on existing graphics cards. The new prices will go into effect this month (July) and it looks like certain cards are already being priced higher than their MSRP.

The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 is one example that launched at an MSRP of 2399 RMB however the same models that were priced at MSRP are now being sold for 2499 RMB which is an increase of 4%. The pricing has already been adjusted by various retailers and we can expect the same for the rest of the lineup. In the case of the higher-end models such as the GeForce RTX 4090, a 4% price hike similar to the RTX 4060 would mean that it would see a price increase from 12999 RMB (MSRP) to 13599 RMB which is almost a $100 US increase.

And since these price increases are only specific to the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 40 series graphics cards, it would further put pressure on the already poor sales of the mainstream lineup which hasn't been able to attract as large of an audience as NVIDIA might hoped for. Ongoing price cuts on the GeForce RTX 30 series and competitor cards would prove to be a worthy choice for the majority of gamers in China. Meanwhile, the rest of the world can enjoy the same MSRP prices & even expect discounts to drop within this month.
