The Dynamic Multi-Frame Generation will be here soon, but users can still turn it on through the OTA (Over the Air) update via the NVIDIA App.
Turning On DLSS Overdrive in NVIDIA App Reportedly Turns on Upcoming DLSS 4.5 Dynamic Multi-Frame Generation
While the DLSS 4.5 Dynamic Multi-Frame Generation is arriving today, some users have found that the feature already works through the NVIDIA App. It's not available directly from the software, but can be enabled through a workaround. Per a Reddit thread, NVIDIA is pushing Streamline 2.11 and DLSS 310.6.0 via OTA (Over-the-Air) updates.
DLSS 4.5 RTX Super Resolution has been available since January, but DLSS 4.5 6X Frame Gen and Dynamic Multi-Frame Generation are set to be released today. With the OTA path, the Dynamic Multi-Frame Generation can be enabled if the DLSS Overdrive is turned on from the NVIDIA App. A user pointed out in the Reddit thread that, through the NVIDIA Profile Inspector, by searching for the "DLSSG mode" and setting it to hex 4, the Dynamic MFG can be turned on.
It's just that NVIDIA hasn't exposed it in the App for the users yet, but users who would like to wait for the official release can still have their hands on the Dynamic MFG today. Unlike the Multi-Frame Generation, which enables additional fake frames between the rendered frames, the DMFG works by dynamically generating a different number of frames as per the requirement. While MFG has now been expanded to generate up to five fake frames, the Dynamic MFG can generate anywhere between one to five frames to match the refresh rate of the monitor.
With this method, a smoother gameplay can be achieved without affecting the visual quality much. With traditional 4X and 6X MFG, a lot of artifacts are expected to be generated, but if the game doesn't need to generate a lot of extra frames, the Dynamic MFG will generate fewer frames that will maintain both visual fidelity and smoothness.
