NVIDIA is launching a new configuration of its highly popular GeForce RTX 5070 Laptop GPU, which features 12 GB of memory.

NVIDIA's GeForce RTX 5070 laptops are highly popular in the gaming segment. These laptops not only offer great gaming performance, but they also pack strong AI capabilities, making them an ideal choice for mainstream users.

Now, NVIDIA is expanding its GeForce RTX 5070 Laptop lineup with a brand new configuration. The new configuration packs 12 GB of memory, a 50% boost over the original 8 GB capacity. The following is the full release:

We’re expanding options across GeForce RTX laptops with a new GeForce RTX 5070 Laptop GPU configuration, including a 12GB option. With strong demand for GeForce RTX Laptop GPUs and constrained memory supply, this addition helps maximize memory availability and allows partners to bring a broader range of laptops to consumers.

In terms of specifications, nothing much has changed besides the memory capacity. The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 12 GB Laptop GPU still retains the same Blackwell "GB206" GPU with 4608 cores, 144 TMUs, and 48 ROPs.

The memory configuration is the same 128-bit layout with 24 Gbps GDDR7 modules, but instead of relying on the 16Gb (2 GB) modules, the RTX 5070 12 GB relies on 24Gb (3 GB) modules. This allows the 50% expansion in memory capacity using the same interface. The bandwidth will also remain the same with 384 GB/s through GDDR7.

NVIDIA's partners will be rolling out new laptops featuring the 12 GB GeForce RTX 5070 option. The 8 GB option will also exist, as the 12 GB variant is not meant to replace it. We can expect a slight difference in pricing, but these laptops will still cost much less than the higher-end 5070 Ti GPU-based laptops, which feature 12 GB of memory as a baseline.
