NVIDIA and AMD are reportedly gearing up to launch their budget-friendly GPUs in May, battling for dominance in the mainstream GPU segment.
NVIDIA & AMD Are Preparing To Dominate The Mid-End GPU Segment With The RTX 5060 & RX 9060 XT SKUs
When it comes to GPUs available to the rather low-to-mid-tier consumers in the market, they are really confined for now, especially since the latest-gen options, particularly from NVIDIA, have seen low inventory levels, which have raised prices way beyond MSRPs. Similarly, in AMD's camp, the demand for their RX 9070 series is pretty high, meaning finding a unit at MSRP pricing isn't normal. But now, it seems like both GPU manufacturers are preparing new solutions for the mainstream market, as a report by Benchlife says that we can see an NVIDIA/AMD launch by next month.
Starting with Team Green, the firm is said to release the GeForce RTX 5060 by May 19. In terms of specifications, we are looking at an 8 GB GDDR7 VRAM configuration running at 28 Gbps through a 128-bit memory bus. Lastly, the GeForce RTX 5060 will also bring a noticeable increase in power consumption, and compared to the RTX 4060, it will bring a 35W TDP increase. Here's how the RTX 5060 is positioned relative to its generational counterpart.

At AMD's camp, we are anticipating the Radeon RX 9060 XT launch, which is set to be unveiled on May 21 at Computex, but the retail launch could go up to June. The RX 9060 XT will feature the Navi 44 die on a 128-bit bus interface, coming in both 8GB/16GB configurations, similar to the NVIDIA's RTX 5060 Ti. Moreover, the GPU is said to feature 2,048 SPs, half of the Radeon RX 9070 XT, with game clocks configured at 2620 MHz and boost clocks at 3230 MHz, so it is safe to say that for 1080p/2K performance, the GPU will surely pack a punch.
