Nintendo has a major new Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet update planned for the end of February, but it seemingly won't include much-needed performance improvements.

As can be read in our launch review, Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet are quite great, but the games suffer from some apparent performance issues and visual glitches that negatively affect the overall gameplay experience. Fans of the series keep hoping for Nintendo and Game Freak to fix these issues, but three months after its release, these issues are still ever present.

Earlier today, Nintendo announced the upcoming arrival of a new major patch, Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet Update 1.2.0, but going by these release notes, there are no improvements to performance. Instead, this update focuses on adding features that were already present in previous Pokémon installments, including changes to Pokémon boxes. Granted, the notes do mention the reduction of the number of Pokémon and people displayed on the screen, but apart from fixing crashes, these changes likely won't greatly improve performance.

We've included the release notes for this update down below. We'll update you as soon as more information about the release date of this patch comes in. So far, Nintendo has only confirmed that it will be arriving by the end of this month.
