Nioh 3 is finally getting new additional content next week, on April 27, via a free update announced today in a new letter shared on the game's official website by Producer Kohei Shibata.

"We would first like to express our gratitude to the many players around the world who have taken the time to play Nioh 3 since its release. We are currently hard at work developing future updates and DLC for the game," said Shibata-san in the new letter. "I would also like to take this opportunity to briefly introduce the free update scheduled for release on April 27. This update will primarily introduce new features and content designed to enhance the Nioh 3 gameplay experience."

The Nioh 3 April 27 update will feature, among other things:

Next week's update won't be the end of additional content to Nioh 3, as Shibata-san confirmed the team will "continue to provide ongoing updates for Nioh 3, including DLC releases planned for later this year."

While all of the additions above sound great, the introduction of more high-difficulty content is, in my opinion, the addition to get the most excited about for those who have been playing the Nioh series since its first entry. Although I have enjoyed Nioh 3 immensely and awarded a 9.8 score in my review, a score that is wholly deserved for a game that is the culmination of Team NINJA's evolution, I found the experience to be on the easier side. As such, it will be great to put the game's deep and intricate gameplay systems to use to conquer these challenges.
