All Nintendo Switch Titles To Support Cloud Saves By Default – Rumor
The Nintendo Switch Online Service will finally launch this month worldwide, and with it will also come Cloud Saves. There has been some confusion regarding the feature in the past few hours, but it seems like all games will support Cloud Saves by default.
Speaking with Nintendo Life, an unspecified trusted source confirmed that all games will support the feature, but the developer has the option to opt out of it for a variety of reasons.
All existing games will default to “enabled”. I specifically asked Nintendo about that and had that response. If a dev/pub wants an existing game to not support it, they have to ask.
When submitting a game, you are encouraged to enable cloud save. You have to have a good reason to not support it.
Reasons to not support it are generally based around preventing a user abusing it to cheat in your game. I can’t think of anything beyond Animal Crossing being too concerned about players rewinding their saves, but some games that give a random weapon drop, for example, might want to also prevent rewinding.
As Nintendo has yet to talk about the matter, we have to take everything with a grain of salt. Considering the service is close to launching, we won’t have to wait much longer to have a confirmation.
The Nintendo Switch Online Service will also grant access to a compilation of classic NES games, with online play enabled.
For the first time ever, players will be able to enjoy these classic NES games online. Depending on the game, players can engage in online competitive or co-op multiplayer, or take turns controlling the action. Friends can even watch each other play single-player games online, and “pass the controller” at any time. Every classic NES game will support voice chat via the Nintendo Switch Online smartphone app. It will also be possible to play these games offline.
