A modded Nintendo Switch OLED can run some games at higher resolution, even 4K resolution, and better performance, as showcased by a video shared online a few days ago.
As reported on the Famiiboards forums, YouTube user Naga de-soldered the console's RAM modules to solder two 4GB modules running at a higher frequency, doubling the console's RAM. Suprisingly, some games took advantage of the additional RAM, while most others are hard capped to 4GB of RAM. Coupled with some overclocking, select games like Mortal Kombat 1, Kingdom Come Deliverance, and Alien Isolation run much better than on base hardware, while Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom can be made to run at 4K resolution, although with far from playable performance.

With the Nintendo Switch reaching the end of its life, it is not surprising to see such experiments being made with the current hardware. The next console from Nintendo, which has yet to be officially unveiled, is said to be considerably more powerful than its predecessor, although the specifications of its T239 chip suggest that its performance shouldn't be expected to be on par with even the weakest of the current generation consoles, the Xbox Series S. Still, the console may become the best ray tracing capable system of the generation, as the Nintendo Switch 2 is said to support NVIDIA DLSS Ray Reconstruction, which brings considerable visual improvements in ray-traced games.
